End of an Era

Let March 31, 2007 go down in history as one of the saddest days in radio history, for today ends the run of The Who channel on Sirius satellite radio.

Hopefully, they'll reconsider at some point and get our boys back on there. In the meantime, I would be happy to suggest a Pink Floyd channel...

Piss Off, Inhofe

This guy, Inhofe, is really starting to get my (pet) goat. It's one thing if he simply disagrees with the scientific proof that global warming is underway, perhaps thinking that God will just take care of everything. For some reason, this issue, with Al Gore as its champion, has created a mutant bug that has crawled up Inhofe's ass. We got a taste of this when he was taking cheap shots during Gore's testimony, at which Barbara Boxer slammed his whinging ass back down.

In true super-villain fashion, Inhofe waited for the right moment to strike back again at his nemesis for revenge:

Al Gore may have to face another inconvenient truth — his highly touted Live Earth concert is no match for Senate procedural tactics.

On Wednesday, concert organizers pulled the plug on Washington as a venue for raising money and awareness on climate change, thanks in part to global warming skeptic James M. Inhofe.

The Oklahoma senator and a handful of other Republicans refused to sign off on a resolution (S Con Res 24) sponsored by Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Olympia J. Snowe, R-Maine, that would have authorized use of the Capitol grounds for the July 7 concert.

Here's the deal, Inhofe: The concert is still going to happen, the issue will still be front and center, and you'll still be a cranky dick. Please stop crying about this being a partisan issue. Caring about the future of this planet, our home, is for all of us, even the cranky dicks.

To Oblivion and Beyond!

I'm just pleased as punch that the long-awaited expansion pack to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been released! Unlike some of the other downloadable content, this is not just a one-off quest. There are two new worlds to explore, along with new creatures, spells, weaponry, and armor. The PC version is the only one currently available via retail. For the XBOX 360, you can download it from XBOX Live for 2400 Microsoft Points.

Not So Fast There, Murphy McFingers..

Remember that scandal that brought the House down? The one involving the guy who was caught one-handed while turning on the mojo to some teenage Congressional pages? Last we recall, he made his way to rehab for a few months so that other things could grab our attention away from him. Now, he's back from rehab and seems to be enjoying the nice weather:

He was seen last week bicycling along South Ocean Boulevard wearing a helmet and bike racing outfit.

I guess he's enjoying it while he can. You see, Mr. Foley has to deal with the possibility of answering to state charges, since "the Florida statute makes it a crime simply to use lewd or explicit language that is 'harmful to minors'." Throw in the fact that some messages were sent from Pensacola, and you've got yourself another great popcorn night.



I guess rehab isn't as magical as he thought.

A Convenient Falsehood

Even after getting tossed out on their asses, they still can't bare to stay away. For starters, the MSM still manages to give Tom Delay the time of day, even when he lies about the contents of his own book. Next up, dog-lover Rick Santorum.



Rick is planning to enter the world of documentaries as a conservative voice to counter the likes of Al Gore and Michael Moore. Here's a look at Rick's master plan, via TPMCafe:

According to the Morning Call, Santorum is planning as an hour-long work that will "explore the relationship between radical Islam and the radical leftists in various countries around the world, including Latin America." The second, Santorum says, would be a more ambitious project to "change the culture of America."

Actually, Rick, the second project is already underway to change America's "culture of obedience." Thanks anyway.

Mission: Identify That Book!

This morning, the Boston Globe reported that the House Panel voted to authorize subpoenas to drag Karl and Harriet, kicking and screaming, into Congress for testimony on the US Attorney purge.

The article's accompanying picture (above) shows Karl holding either a book or magazine. Can anyone make out what it is? Just wondering what Karl and Georgie are reading these days.

UPDATE: Kudos to Shaker Spectrum Blue who solved the mystery! The book is: Khrushchev's Cold War: The Inside Story of an American Adversary.

Di Yam Gazlonim (The Yiddish Pirates of Penzance)

Lisa and I were proud to attend the second run of Di Yam Gazlonim at the JCC on 76th and Amsterdam in NYC. If you're in the area during the next couple of weeks, treat yourself to a fun time and go see a performance. Don't worry if you're Yiddish-impaired, because there are supertitles to help you along.

In an attempt to keep up with the times, the Israeli authorities proudly displayed their new addition to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. This device, patterned after HAL from 2001 A Space Odyssey, will interact with worshippers in their own native dialect to make sure that their prayers are filed properly. It will also determine if any of the prayers would be considered a jeopardy to the mission.

RIP: Brad Delp

A couple of days ago, we lost one of the great rock vocalists, Brad Delp from the band Boston. There aren't a lot of other debut albums that could stand toe-to-toe with Boston's. Brad's voice really played a major role in giving Boston their own identifiable sound. Late last year, I saw Brad play with his Beatles tribute band, Beatlejuice. It's a shame, given that Boston had a new album and tour in the works for this year. Here's the official statement on their site from guitarist Tom Scholz:

As you all know by now, BOSTON'S lead singer, Brad Delp, was found dead in his home on Friday, March 9th 2007. Plans for live BOSTON performances this summer have, of course, been cancelled.

My heart goes out to his wonderful fiance Pamela, his two children and other family members, his close friends and band mates, and to the millions of people whose lives were made a little brighter by the sound of his voice. He will be dearly missed.

The Fancy Pants Adventure

This is one of the most entertaining Flash-based games I've ever come across. A game that's based on a stick figure with a kickin' hairdo that's wearing fancy pants is all you will ever need. The interface is pretty simple: arrow keys and 'S' to jump. Go have some fun and give World 1 of Fancy Pants a try.

Lightning pictures don't get much cooler than this.

Although, it is definitely possible. One of the comments of the above photo pointed to a story from the UK where someone was able to capture a lightning strike, spitting distance from his location, with the blast making him airborne.
