Lightning pictures don't get much cooler than this.
Although, it is definitely possible. One of the comments of the above photo pointed to a story from the UK where someone was able to capture a lightning strike, spitting distance from his location, with the blast making him airborne.

I love pictures of lightning. There's just something so viscerally pleasing about something quite unpredictable and powerful having been captured and made still. You can almost feel the lightning angrily saying get me the hell out of this wee box!
Maybe it's the necromancer in me, but I get such an adrenaline rush just before a real angry/nasty storm hits. It's something like looking at the sky when the clouds are darkly overhead, nodding at them in acknowledgment, and saying "It's on."
The guy that took that picture of the nearly fatal lightning strike?....
IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE!
